Lionel Marie

Lead Network Architect  — Schneider Electric

Lionel is currently Lead Architect, Global Internet & Cloud Connectivity for Schneider Electric, a French-based leader in the energy management market, with 160,000+ employees and 1,400+ sites located in 100+ countries.

With a strong background in the Internet Industry (Lionel has been the Internet Backbone Team Leader for COLT in France), he has been transforming the Global Internet access of Schneider Electric, from a "commodity access" to a "Cloud ready" network.

Schneider Electric is now connected to different Internet Exchange Points around the world, and uses private peering links to provide best of class access toward major Cloud players for their employees, where network performance is not an option (AWS and Azure for IaaS, Salesforce, Webex, MessagesLabs, Oracle, Google… for SaaS).

Lionel installed one on the first US-based Corporate Virtual Private Cloud for Schneider Electric more than 5 years ago, and he set-up one of the first Direct Connect in Europe for a Corporate.
He designed a fully redundant, carrier-grade connectivity infrastructure to reach any kind of IaaS provider, by mixing both private connectivity and multi-public peering links (reaching 100% uptime for the last 48 months)

Recognized as a visionary company for this accomplishment, Schneider Electric has been appointed as FranceIX’s Board Member in 2013, where Lionel represented Schneider Electric as a "peering evangelist" to demonstrate how Enterprises can leverage from FranceIX to improve network connectivity and performances toward the Cloud.
FranceIX is the leading Public Internet Exchange Point in France, where the 300+ members do exchange more than 500 Gb/s of Internet traffic at peak time.
